I think we gathered about 7-8 34 gallon garbage bags full of shoes! Nike sponsors such programs and I believe ultimately decides what national non-profits and international organizations benefit from the donations.

The running company in downtown Naperville collects shoes year-round. There is also a store in downtown Wheaton that collects and donates shoes to a different non-profit.

For those who want to use cleaner transportation to get around Chicago, but aren’t familiar with how to navigate the transit system, GoogleMap now offers directions on public transit and not just the highway/street system. I used it the other day and found it very precise and helpful.

I thought this was a great idea. It gave me a chance to clean out closets and dispose of things that I would otherwise have thrown away. Any information on how many pairs of shoes you collected? What organization redistributes them around the world?
