And, we’re back!
Wednesday, March 26th, 2008Well, this is the first week back! Like every term, it started and I hit the ground running…
I have been running around campus, get in touch with various people for various things I have been working on. For example, over break I was helping do some research on Civil War soldiers coming out of Naperville in the Illinois 105th Volunteer Infantry Regiment. I spent time cruising the internet, at the local library in the 1860 census and around DuPage County Libraries and such. So, with everything I pulled together, I had to meet with the professor I was working for, as well as get to my own classes, do the ResLife thing (getting the halls back opened and residents all checked in and what not), keep things moving forward with NCC Express and catch up with some old friends! Needless to say, it has been a busy few days!
As for spring break itself, I did not go on any fun trips to exotic and far off places. I stayed on campus for the most part working at the good old Chipotle and doing the research stuff. But, I made it home a few times! That is always fun and refreshing! It is always good to eat Mom’s food, too!
Some classes I am taking are: Global History, Intro to Cultural Anthropology and Teaching the Exceptional Child in the General Classroom.
Global History is basically a research class. Find a topic, research it, and write about it. A lot.
Anthropology is going to look at different cultures and how we study different cultures. Essentially getting at what it means to be human.
Teaching the Exceptional Child will be a very interesting class. Lots of terms are thrown around about the classroom, but this class gives a better understanding of what all of that means. Also, it offers techniques on how to reach out to all learners in the general classroom.
This is kind of dull, but I feel some more interesting stuff will be coming up this term…
