Bloggin’!
Wednesday, October 31st, 2007Hi! My name is Nick Guido and I am a Junior. I am studying Social Sciences and History with a minor in Secondary Education. In fact, I came to North Central because of the education program.
I am actually finishing up my first practicum experience out at Cowherd Middle School in Aurora, IL. Cowherd is unlike any school I have ever visited, but is full of fantastic students. They just call on me to be more creative with my lessons!
Outside of the classroom, I am really involved on campus. I hold a scholarship for theater. Right now we are closing Thoroughly Modern Millie. I have been working the fly rail for this show! I am also the President of NCC Express, the college’s showchoir. Additionally, I have participated in our Concert Choir for the past three years. I am also involved with Kappa Delta Pi. That is the International Education Honor Society that was just started last year at North Central.
Another major part of my life is my job as a Resident Assistant. I have 26 residents on my floor in Geiger Hall. They are all first year students at North Central. Each and every one of them is fantastic! Although the job does take a lot of time, it is about the most rewarding job I have had!
Off campus, I try to coach speech at Naperville Central High School. Lately, my classes and practicum have been too much for me to get out and coach. But the season is young, so I will shoot for winter term! As far as working goes, I usually work for ITS on campus and, of course, Residence Life. But I also dabble in Admissions and Alumni Affairs.I think that is all for now!
