Banned Books Week

Tuesday, September 28th, 2010

Oesterle Library is celebrating Banned Books Week this week! Celebrate the freedom to read by checking out the slideshow of banned and challenged books running on the tv in the lobby of the library, stopping by the banned books read-out happening upstairs in the library’s art gallery from 9:30 to 11 am, or visit the Oesterle Library guide to freedom of speech to learn more about banned books.

Welcome back!

Wednesday, September 15th, 2010

Welcome to all new and returning students, faculty and staff! One of the biggest changes to the library that returning students, faculty and staff will notice is the new CardinalCat interface. This change was implemented over the summer in response to change implemented last spring in the I-Share catalog.  In order to request books through I-Share interlibrary loan, check the status of requests and renew books online, you will now need to create an account associated with the 14-digit barcode number on the back of your NCC ID card that was previously used to request books and renew items.  You can watch a video on how to create an account here.

You’ll also find a difference in our loaning policies for books. Earlier in the summer I-Share implemented a policy to help standardize loan periods for the items you order from other I-Share libraries.  As a result, Oesterle Library adjusted its policies as well.  Any book checked out from Oesterle Library or ordered through I-Share interlibrary loan will now have a 4 week loan period with a maximum of three renewals.

Please contact the library with any questions you have about any of these changes.
