New Theater and Overall Great Weekend

Monday, October 20th, 2008

This Thursday was the opening show of Anne Frank in the Madden Black Box Theatre. This was also the first show ever to take place in the brand new black box theatre. It was a great show full of incredible acting and dramatics. It was my second show ever seen in a black box theatre and I would recommend seeing a show in one if I were you. Anne Frank was one of the few books I did read in high school and I enjoyed it tremendously because of the entwinement with World War II. It was cool knowing that I saw the first show ever within the theatre.

After Thursday Homecoming weekend really started up. A pep rally was held in Merner Field house on Friday night after the women’s soccer team crushed their opponent 8-0. The pep rally consisted of tug of war between the all four classes of students. Also the homecoming king and queen were chosen. I would like to send a congrats to Alex Mersman and Kate Schmidt for becoming crowned 2008 Homecoming King and Queen.

Saturday we had a early morning championship series between the 3 teams of fall baseball. My team (2) and team 1 faced off at 8AM. We unfortunately lost, but it was an awesome fall for me and I enjoyed it a lot. After our championship fall ball game the Alumni game took place. It was great seeing all the old faces come back and see what they were up to and how they were doing.

Me and my roommates then took an adventure to Olive Garden with our dates and had an excellent dinner. But that wasn’t the best part of it; we then danced the night away in a tent outside of Merner Field house. They had big screen TV’s, wooden floor tiles, food and many other assortments. It was an awesome time even better than last year, which is hard to top. Next year when I graduate I hope to come back to North Central as an Alum and have as much fun as I did this weekend.

Quote of the Week

“Live life fully while you’re here. Experience everything. Take care of yourself and your friends. Have fun, be crazy, be weird. Go out and screw up! You’re going to anyway, so you might as well enjoy the process. Take the opportunity to learn from your mistakes: find the cause of your problem and eliminate it. Don’t try to be perfect; just be an excellent example of being human.” – Anthony Robbins

Shows, Finger Prints, and Old Friends

Monday, October 13th, 2008

My week started off on a very random note of getting figured printed at the Naperville Police Station. No it’s not what you think; I am not a criminal or have ever even committed a felony. I am student teaching Winter Term at Madison Jr. High here in Naperville. Part of the criteria to student teach in District 203 is to get finger printed, criminal background checked, and TB tested. This was a little task to be done in the long run because I cannot wait to student teach and finally get into the profession I have been waiting so long for.

About 3 months ago I received an e-mail containing the events around North Central’s campus and the shows that would be playing during the year. I purchased two tickets to a show I had heard so much about, Cirque D’Or. Cirque D’Or was presented by Golden Dragon Acrobats direct from Cangzhou, Hebei province in China. The show was on Saturday and let me tell you I couldn’t close my mouth during the whole show. The 2007-08 tour will mark the 29th year of continuous touring in the United States for the Golden Dragon Acrobats. The Golden Dragons are known internationally as the premiere Chinese acrobatic touring company of today. It was such a great experience and I was left eyes wide open and flabbergasted.

Saturday 3 of my best friends came to visit me. They have tried to for 4 years now and finally made it out. They stayed over the night and it’s was like old times. We played our usual game loaded questions and laughed and reminisced about the “good old days.” Seeing them brought back so many memories and stories.

Then came Sunday, where I was invited to my friends Pasta Party at her house. She treated us all to a sit down mostacholi, bread, meatballs, sausages, and an array of desserts. It was an awesome occasion filled with good friends and new memories to spice it up.

SOX WIN!!!!!

Monday, October 6th, 2008

This week was an exuberant week. With action in baseball, school, and everyday life. Last Sunday I was given 4 Chicago White Sox tickets by my buddy. They were Box seats and it was a do or die game for the Sox. They ended up beating the Cleveland Indians 5-1. We then went back to my house and ate some of my favorite pizza, Lou Malnati’s. It was a day to cap the great weekend.

Further down in the week I went to the two Jr. High School s that I tutor at and had a blast once again. I love helping out the kids with any and all the questions they have. I tutor math over at Madison Jr. High and help out with the homework program at Washington Jr. High. It’s a great experience and I would highly recommended to others thinking about majoring in education.

Other than that I’ve had a lot of school work to keep me going and ohh yea the SOX won their division. Yes I am a loyal SOX fan and was ecstatic when they beat the Minnesota Twins for the tie breaker for the division.

Well loyal readers until next time “Keep Rockin in the Free World”
