Mothers Day and Y-ME Breast Cancer Walk
Mothers Day and Y-ME Breast Cancer Walk
This weekend was a great one let me tell you, filled with family and memories. To finish up on how siblings weekend went, in the words of my little brother Dan “that’s how we Toys’ do it.” He was ecstatic and I could really tell he enjoyed himself this weekend.
We left North Central at 5:00AM in the morning to get back to my house to depart for the Y-ME Breast Cancer Walk. My mom, my little brother and I registered for the walk about a month ago and raised 700$. We arrived at 7:00AM down in Grant Park and got lucky finding parking where we did. Let me just tell you I have been through bad weather, but this was by far the worst. 30-35 MPH winds with pounding rain and the Lakes cold front. But all in all there were about 10,000 people there and I was told they raised over 3 million dollars. The weather was not anything compared to the memories we made and the effort we put toward a good cause.
I’m not sure if that weekend is beatable, but I’m pretty sure that Springfest, yes I said Springfest, is going to be awesome once again this year. Every year I look forward to this event sponsored by CUAB (College Union Activities Board) where Bands come out to championship plaza and rock out all day. The events they have there change every year, but mostly dunk tanks, free food, and free gadgets. It a great time and I’m totally looking forward to it once again. I’ll let you know how it goes this weekend.
